Does anyone have an easy and cute baby Afghan Crochet Pattern?
I am looking for a unique but easy pattern for a baby blanket for my step daughter. She is expecting soon and I want to crochet her a blanket. She is not into pink girly stuff. I need something quick and easy to make as I have little extra time to work on it.
Have you checked here? http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PG=baby&PT=c You have to be a member to view the patterns, but it's free to sign up.

My oldest daughter asked, "How did you learn to knit baby blankets?" I told him my grandmother had taught me the basics of crochet, for example, how to make a chain, single crochet, double crochet, etc. I also said that another good way is to read books, especially books of patterns, to learn over the rough spots. (This was before the days of Internet research!)
These days I would suggest that anyone wanting to learn to knit baby blankets, crochet or any other article, you must go online to watch video. The reason I suggest videos instead of books only in the videos you can see how to hold the yarn and hook as well as any other measure necessary to do certain stitches.
I've found YouTube to be a great resource in the search for these videos. Simply type in "crochet" or "blanket crochet" in the search bar and you'll find plenty of how-to videos.
You can also go to Google and type the word "crochet videos" or "crochet baby blanket videos" to show a lot of results.
Of course, there are many different models of baby blankets and Afghans. Each pattern has different points needed to learn, if you do not already know. Most often the patterns are instructions for the basics and more advanced points. If you are new to crochet, I suggest you start with a model very basic. I found very easy to follow patterns are granny squares or ripples.
If your calling patterns of dots that you are not familiar with the instructions and it is not clear, do another search for videos using that specific point in the search term. For example, Google or YouTube might try searching for "double crochet stitch" or "dual video crochet stitch."
Another great way to learn is how I did, having someone with experience will show. If you do not have a grandmother, mother, aunt, etc, who is an expert in crochet, try some of the women is associated as partners work, church groups, friends and other family members. Many churches have a time when the ladies get together and bring in various craft projects. This would a great resource.
Good luck!
